Set Up Focus

How do I add a Pomodoro timer widget to my Home Screen?

Start a session straight from your Home Screen.

Last updated 7 July 2026

A widget keeps Focus one tap away — start or stop a session, or check the day's stats, without opening the app.

To add one, touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle, tap the plus button, then search for Focus. Pick a size and place it where you'll see it.

There are a few styles to choose from: the main Focus widget (timer, cycle progress, and active task), a Today Activity widget (progress toward your goal), a 10-day activity chart, and a minimalist timer made for StandBy. On a Mac, you can add the same widgets to your desktop from Notification Center.

Widgets are a quiet nudge toward the focus time you're aiming for.

Widgets on Mac and Apple Watch

The same widgets work beyond your iPhone's Home Screen — and you can add as many as you like, in different sizes: the main Focus timer, Today Activity, the 10 Day Activity chart, and the Minimalistic Timer made for StandBy.

On your Mac

Starting with macOS Sonoma, Focus widgets can live right on your desktop, so the timer stays in view while you work.

  1. Click the time in the top-right corner of your screen to open Notification Center.
  2. Scroll down and click Edit Widgets.
  3. Search for Focus.
  4. Drag your favorite widget onto the desktop — or into Notification Center, if you prefer it tucked away.

On Apple Watch

With watchOS 10 or later, a Smart Stack widget shows your session's progress and active task at a glance.

  1. Turn the Digital Crown to show the Smart Stack.
  2. Touch and hold to edit the widgets.
  3. Scroll to Focus and tap to add it.

Now a glance at your wrist tells you where the session stands.
